Writing My First Blog Ever—What I’ve Learned

Day 1 of Writing my First ever Blog/article

As the title suggests, this is my first time writing a blog. Over the past week, I’ve been diving into various blogs—something I never imagined doing five years ago. Back then, I didn’t really understand what a blog was. I always thought it was just a feature on Myspace where people wrote whatever came to mind. It’s funny how things change. These days, I spend almost every morning reading random blogs and articles.

My Morning Routine

My morning ritual involves drinking coffee and reading articles about current affairs, cryptocurrency, money-making blogs, D&D, Warhammer, video games—pretty much anything I might’ve been curious about that week. These articles now conveniently appear on my phone’s Discovery Screen, making my morning read more enjoyable and convenient.

My Thoughts on Google Collection

And yes, I know some people dislike the idea of Google collecting our data—but at least they’re putting it to some good use. Honestly, I love the articles that pop up, even the ones I completely disagree with. In fact, I sometimes find the most enjoyment in the ones I don’t agree with. I’ll read them all the way through while skimming ones that mirror my opinions—unless they’re written exceptionally well or offer a fresh angle.

On Writing, Opinions, and “Experts”

When someone shares my views, the writing needs to stand out to keep me engaged. Otherwise, it just seems like I’m reading my own thoughts. I also prefer when writers are upfront about whether something is an opinion or a review. It’s so much better than pretending to be an authority on everything. Now don’t get me wrong, I admire anyone who has the guts to self-publish. But I’ve noticed that sometimes the least experienced are the quickest to critique others. I’m no editor myself. I’ve only taken a few college English classes. I’m not an expert, just a person sharing ideas and experiences that I find interesting.

A Note to Readers

Anyway, sorry if this article feels a bit rambly. It is my first blog after all. I doubt it will ever be published—but if it is, that would be amazing.

Learning about Navigation Menus

As I researched blogging, I noticed that most blogs have a navigation Menu. These menus make it easier for readers to jump to specific sections, like an “About” or “Contact” page. At the moment, I’m still figuring out how to create one myself. I just watched a couple YouTube reels and was surprised how simple it actually is.

Experimenting Word and WordPress

I’ve managed to add a navigation menu, but it’s not quite right yet—it only shows one heading instead of multiple of tabs. I’ve since learned it’s better to add menus after publishing on platforms like WordPress… That’s next on my list to learn.

Discovering Blogging Mentors

Neil Patel: The SEO Master

After reading Neil Patel’s site, I realized how beautifully structured his blogs are. His focus is clear: helping others grow their online presence.Patel specializes in SEO (Search Engine Optimization), the practice of improving your websites visibility on search engines. He turned a failed teenage business venture into a lifelong mission to master marketing, which is now foundation of his career.

Understanding SEO

If you’re new to online marketing, terms like SEO might sound intimidating. But really, its just a way to increase your website’s traffic organically (and for free). Who doesn’t love free tools that can help grow your income?

Incomediary.com: A hub for Entrepreneurs

If you a bit about SEO and want to make money writing about it, check it out https://www.incomediary.com/.Their site offers resources on blogging, marketing, and content creation. You’ll also find post about very wealthy entrepreneurs and practical guides to making money online.

SurferSEO: Optimize as You Write

One tool recommended is https://surferseo.com/. A platform that helps you write and edit your content optimized for search engines. It even gives real-time feedback as you type, including suggested keywords and ideal word counts.

Semrush: All-in-One Marketing Platform

Another recommended tool is https://www.semrush.com/, an AI-powered platform that offers site audits, rank tracking, and competitive analysis. For example if you own a coffee shop in Santa Monica, you would use keyword like “Santa Monica’s best coffee” to best visibility in local searches.

OnlineJobs.ph: Connecting Employers and Workers

OnlineJobs.ph is another incomediary suggestion—a platform that connects global employers with skilled Filipino workers in fields like, writing, Web development, and design… It’s a direct hiring-site, giving you full control without intermediaries.

Diving into Finance Blogs

Tim Sykes: Learning From a Millionaire Trader

When I discovered Tim Sykes, I immediately recognized the term penny stocks—from The Wolf of Wall Street, of course. But unlike the scams from the movie, Sykes’ teachings are legitimate and transparent. He openly discusses his own trading mistakes, including his “third-worst loss of 2025.” That honestly made him feel more relatable and trustworthy.

Penny Stocks Explained

Penny stocks are low-cost shares—usually under 5 dollars—offered by smaller companies. They’re traded on Over-the-Counter (OTC) markets rather than major exchanges like NASDAQ… They can be risky, but they’re also a way for everyday people to start investing without breaking the bank.

From Blogs to Nostalgia: My Love for Video Games

Discovering Patt Flynn

While exploring bloggers, I also found Pat Flynn, whose content I connect with the most. His tone is warm, conversational, and relatable… He covers a range of topics—from online business to parenting and gaming. I especially liked his blog on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), which brought back childhood memories.

Growing Up with the NES and SNES

I grew up a little behind the times, playing the original Super Mario on a tiny black-and-white TV. Later, I graduated to SNES at my sister DeeDee’s house—where gaming weekend were pure magic… The ability to save your game was revolutionary back then!

Falling in Love with RPGs

My favorite SNES game was Super Mario World, but my true passion became RPGs (Role Playing Games). It all started with Final Fantasy III and Mystic Quest. I played with my friend Nathan, who was brilliant and helped me understand things I couldn’t’ that on my own… That friendship and those games taught me that storytelling—and curiosity—can take you further than grades ever could.

Wrapping It Up

Writing this first blog has been an eye-opener. I’ve learned about SEO, blogging tools, financial mentors, and rediscovered memories that shaped who I am… If you’ve read this far—thank you. This is just the beginning of my blogging journey, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
